Dear Friends of Scouting and Friends of the Texas Trails Council,

On the first Tuesday in May (May 2, 2017), Abilene Gives will be one of more than 100 community giving events happening across the country to raise the profile of charitable giving.  Abilene Gives will allow our community to give together by collectively supporting our local nonprofit organizations.  Twenty-four hours of giving begins at 12:00 a.m. on May 2.  Throughout the day, individuals may view the online profile of the Texas Trails Council  https://abilenegives.org/designee/texas-trails-council-bsa and make a charitable gift through this website. We would ask you to send this e-mail and future e-mails to all your Family, friends, business associates to encourage them to make a charitable gift to the Texas Trails Council during this 24 Hour period. We have many projects in the making right now that need funding.

Please share on all of your Social Media Sources

For instance we have:

  • A “Fund a Cause” for a much needed Zero Turn Radius mower for camp which we have already raised $1,950 of the $4,100 price tag.
  • A new fire suppression system for the dining facility at Camp Tonkawa ($2,450) to replace the 32 year old system
  • Five new underwater lights for the swimming pool at Camp Tonkawa ($2,875) to replace the 30 year old inoperative lights
  • New hot water tank for the dining facility at Camp Tonkawa ($3,200) to replace the two 29 year old hot water tanks
  • Repair 33 year old septic system ($5,500) at Camp Billy Gibbons
  • A Zip line for Camp Billy Gibbons
  • The multiple projects for our New Cub World project located on the property just north of Camp Tonkawa.
  • Of course our Council like all Boy Scout Councils needs funds for everyday operation.

Participating nonprofits also have the opportunity to receive additional funds based on donations received during Abilene Gives, encouraging donors to make a gift on this particular day to support their favorite causes or nonprofits  Click for Abilene Gives Incentive

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about the Texas Trails Council and our upcoming plans. We would welcome the opportunity to visit with you in person about the great work our many volunteers do . Without our generous supporters we could not bring scouting and its values to our many youth!
